What to do When Your Furnace Won't Ignite Published on February 23, 2017 We are trudging through the last few weeks of winter but we still have to have our furnaces, especially during cold nights. Nothing is worse than laying down at night just to find out your furnace won’t kick on. If this happens to you, here are a few things you can check yourself before your call Service Experts Heating & Air Conditioning. Check Air Filters You should swap out standard air filters each month. If you don’t, they can become clogged, blocking air flow and resulting in your furnace malfunctioning. Check Your Thermostat Try turning the temperature up a few degrees to get the furnace to kick on. If the true room temperature is higher than the thermostat, the furnace won’t kick on. Also, verify the system switch is on “heat” or “auto.” Check the Power It may seem obvious, but make sure the power switch next to the heating equipment is “On.” Even gas furnaces use electricity so confirm the breaker has not tripped and that the power switch wasn’t accidently moved to the “Off” position. If you review all these things and your heating equipment will still not turn on, give Service Experts Heating & Air Conditioning a call at 905-453-6700 and we’ll come out and get you taken care of as soon as possible.
