Common Toronto AC Problems and Solutions Published on June 13, 2016 We previously told you about a few of the most common air conditioning problems Toronto faces, but today we are here to tell you about some common air conditioning issues that you can help troubleshoot. The air conditioning system is on but not putting out cool air. If your A/C system is running but not actually cooling, you might need to have your refrigerant levels examined. Refrigerant is required to make sure the air coming out of your system is truly cool and keeps your home comfortable. Low refrigerant is commonly a symptom of a leak or that the system wasn’t charged correctly. A simple way to verify if you are low on refrigerant is to go out to your air conditioning system and find the two copper pipes. If the bigger pipe is “sweating” or producing condensation, touch the pipe to feel if it’s cold. If it is, you are most likely good to go and don’t require extra refrigerant. If you’re not positive or the pipe is not producing condensation and is not cold when you feel it, call Service Experts Heating & Air Conditioning and we’ll come out and confirm your refrigerant levels and discover why your A/C system is not blowing cool air. Remember, only an EPA Certified technician should manage refrigerant for central air conditioners, due to the dangers of handling this potentially dangerous chemical. You air condenser fan isn’t spinning. There are several reasons your condenser fan might not be turning. One is that it simply burned out and you require a replacement. Humidity tends to cause more condensation so another issue could be that the water is not draining correctly or that the drain is blocked. If you can verify these things, you may be able to locate the trouble; but, if not, give Service Experts Heating & Air Conditioning a call and we can determine what is preventing your condenser fan from rotating and go over your options to get your AC problem fixed. Your A/C is not providing sufficient air cooling. First thing’s first: try decreasing the temperature on your thermostat. It seems silly but sometimes our busy lives cause us to ignore the obvious. If lowering the thermostat doesn’t get your home cooling and comfortable again, check and get a new air filter. If the air filter is obstructed, it could cause major cooling issues. Another problem that could be causing your lack of cooling is an air conditioner that is not sized accurately, and unfortunately this is a very common issue when homes are designed. Service Experts Heating & Air Conditioning is happy to come out and perform an analysis to verify if the size of your air conditioner is causing your troubles. AC shuts on and off over and over If your A/C system is short cycling, or turning on or off consistently, it could mean one of a few things. One thing is that your condenser or evaporator is blocked or dirty and needs to be cleaned. Once the equipment is cleaned and all obstructions moved out of the way, you may be back to a regular running air conditioner. Remember that humidity also plays a role so if the house cools to the proper temperatures, but then the humidity causes your house to heat up quickly, this would contribute to an on-again, off-again system because it’s having to work harder to keep your family cool and comfortable. No matter your problem, whatever common or uncommon air conditioning issue you run into, Service Experts Heating & Air Conditioning is here for you 24/7/365.
